“I collected the dead roots and leaves from my friends’ plants that had been left in my care over the holidays and used them as a starting point for my installations. The creating process felt organic, as if I was aiding the fractals that resembled my blood veins and the plants to slowly grow all over the flat. The structure of the lungs manifested itself in cigarettes, bringing the inside out. The fractals seemed to bring my emotional and mental reality into the physical one. While looking at the moldy walls of especially the bathroom, I was reminded how the word ‘home’ means ‘mold’ in Finnish, which later became the title for this series.” (x)
