honestly its pretty important to understand that a lot of animals (especially undomesticated animals like amphibians, reptiles, birds, hedgehogs, etc) don’t enjoy or barely tolerate being touched, handled, petted, nuzzled or kissed. animals can express affection, stress, and fear in wildly different ways than us, and it isn’t uncommon for people to misread stress signals as returned affection. animals are not people, novelties, toys, or playthings that exist purely for your amusement.

if you don’t want your pet anymore after you adopted it because it doesn’t like being touched, you got the animal for the wrong reason in the first place.
