vintage tumblr discourses

odyshape:

  • words like ‘homophobia’ and ‘islamophobia’ are ableist and stigmatize ppl with panic disorders
  • some people started using trans* to indicate non-binary, agender, two spirit, etc. inclusion. people sent you anon messages if you forgot the asterisk. then someone wrote a popular post about how trans* was actually problematic. if you didn’t switch back to trans (without asterisk) overnight you got called out.
  • YOU MUST PUT EVERY POSSIBLE DESCRIPTOR OF YOUR SOCIAL IDENTITY IN AN EASILY ACCESSIBLE LOCATION ON YOUR PAGE.  in practice, this is mostly so people can determine what would be the most socially acceptable way to insult you.
  • using all caps is also ableist, btw, as it may trigger anxiety
  • people getting called out for not captioning every image on their page in the Tumblr Approved Style, which differed significantly from standard captioning procedures, and iirc, tended to be confusing if you actually used a screenreader.
  • it seemed like lady gaga was the most problematic recording artist of all time
  • meanwhile, FEMINIST RYAN GOSLING
  • the blog “yourfaveisproblematic”
  • the blog “feministdisney”
  • the long, ridiculous saga of the “privilege denying dude” meme
  • people writing lists of privileges modeled after peggy mcintosh’s  “white privilege: unpacking the invisible knapsack” for everything you can imagine, such as monoamory privilege
  • kinkshaming
  • #scopophobia
  •  headmates
  • otherkin
  • some people drunk drive to cope
  • some people publicly and graphically fantasize about cannibalizing people who disagree with them on the internet to cope
