Highlight of thanksgiving zoom call was my dad and his siblings reminiscing about when they used to go swimming at the beach in new jersey and shipwrecks would cover the beach in sticky oily tar and they would still go swimming and there were barrels of kerosene outside the bathhouse that they would rub all over their bodies to get the tar off. And my aunts partner was like oh yeah when i would go to the beach at cape may during wwii and there were german u boats visible from shore and there was an oil spill but they made us use NAIL POLISH REMOVER to get the tar off
#my family is so old. like my aunt is 50 years older than me and her partner is like 10 years older than her so like mid 80s#low light was my 75 year old aunt talking about working 13 hours yesterday even though she tried to take the day off#she’s a hospital administrator so she’s at least not interacting with patients
