yβall wanna hear some buckwild facts about shrews?
-most eat their body weight or more of food per day. they are technically omnivores but lean towards carnivorous and WILL hunt and kill things larger than themselves
-they can have 10 litters of babies per year, and can live up to 3 years which is wild for a mammal that size
-the smallest species has a heart rate exceeding 1500 beats a minute, faster than a hummingbird
-they are not rodents! theyβre related to hedgehogs and moles and instead of gnawing rodent teeth they have SHARP FANGS
-they occasionally keep live snails or bugs in their burrows to have fresh food during the winter
-speaking of winter, they donβt hibernate but instead SHRINK, BONES AND ALL, to a smaller and easier-to-maintain size
