i think broad spectrum insecticides should have to show dead bumble bees and monarch butterflies alongside the âpestâ insects on the bottle and in advertisements
So people know what the product actually does
Insects are the foundation of terrestrial food chains, 80% of plant species are fully dependent on them for reproduction, and they are vital for soil creation and decomposition of dead plant and animal matter.
Insecticides widely contaminate soil and water and are toxic and carcinogenic to humans, and residues persist for years or decades inside homes. Populations of most insects are currently declining rapidly, except for species that are able to be parasitic on humans (pest species of our crops, flies, cockroaches). Tick populations, and tick-borne diseases, are exploding. Their main predators are ants, spiders, and beetles.
The insect decline is in my opinion a greater threat to the future of the human species than climate change.
We depend on them for everything, every day of our lives. But enjoy giving yourself cancer while doing your part to make sure your grandchildren donât know what a berry is.
The main predator of bed bugs is house cockroach.
Sucks that the rest of humanity hates seeing a little guy so much that we are now having out in controlled outbreaks of actual pests that spread bloodborne diseases ÂŻ\_(ă)_/ÂŻ
Looked it upâŚants, cockroaches, and centipedes eat bedbugs. Who knew.
I hate how all the information about bugs online comes from âpest controlâ websites that obscure the line between dangerous and annoying bugs by saying things like âthey can have bacteria on themâ (so does a cat or a child) and âthey can cause an allergic reactionâ (so can a rubber band or a mango)
Itâs like people donât know the basic rule of âdonât learn about something from a source thatâs trying to sell you a productâ
