#i bet this is fucking with their siphon retracting reaction scientists love to fuck w that#I wrote a paper in undergrad where I analyzed a pop science article about scientists making the snails ‘forget’ their retraction response#lets just sayyyy people like to apply these findings to human memory mechanisms which is not necessarily accurate but very fun and probably#helps them get funding bc i think studies with potential therapeutic implications for humans means more $$$#otherwise they’re just being mean to snails. for science which i think is still worthwhile. though i feel bad for the snails i hope they#have nice clean tanks etc
