Commission for a naughty librarian (which is a bit redundant - librarians are naughty as a rule).
This one was a bit of a challenge - the patron wanted the piece to be mostly black and white with a touch of color. However, I wanted to differentiate the skin tones of the couple, and the red was just a fun bit of contrast. So the end result is a bit of a compromise - by no means full color, but not just a touch either. I think if I had to do it over again, I would have just gone with full color on both of the figures. But the patron was very happy with the result, and that’s what counts (I like it too!).
I told my brother that I was cutting my hair shorter than his is now and he responded “damn it, now that means I have to cut mine” and if that doesn’t explain white heterosexual masculinity to you in one sentence idk what will.

Just thought I’d share this charming piece of graffiti from near my home.
By the way, this is the ONLY women’s library in the country, it has only women’s work in it and also serves as a sort of feminist museum. They’re affiliated with a university close by and hold regular events such as workshops and talks on subjects like the poetry of immigrant women of colour or the representation of mental health in women’s literature. Its also due to be closed down by the Conservatives.
Can men go in and borrow books written by women?
Yeah, totally, they even do events for men by women on intro to feminism, rape culture stuff sometimes!
