Hey hey we’ve got some new faces in the terrarium, straight from the beautiful wilderness of Wakayama!
First up is Minchi, a baby Gyuriki-maimai (just like Dala).
She’s just starting to get the speckles indicative of her species. She’s gonna get big big BIG - we’re talking biggest land snail native to Japan big! So like, what, 5-6 cm? Adorable.
Next up is Wilt, a Siebold’s globular snail (Usukawa-maimai). He’s got a wonky short eye and a white mole on his face…and I think he’s charming! He recently achieved a fully grown state, so he’s probably at least 2 years old.
Finally we have Milky, a Kuchibeni-maimai just like Godzilla (who is still missing). All white except for light brown racing stripes and eyestalks, Milky looks like she’s made of white chocolate! She’s also got a cute little brown diamond on her head. A pale red stripe near the opening of her shell indicates she may be nearly full-grown.
Oh, also, I bought a macro lens for my phone camera.
