A beetle officiates at an insect wedding. As near as we can tell the bride is a dragonfly and the groom is a moth. One of the many anthropomorphic drawings in the satirical French work Scénes de la Vie Privée et Publique des Animaux (1842). An obscure work today, at least in the English=speaking world, this work by J.J. Grandville involved collaboration with some of the great French writers of the time, including Balzac and George Sand.
