I'm pro Rihanna's dress but I'm upset were idolizing her when she stayed with her abuser. Chris should be rotting in jail.

the reason i do not appreciate this mentality of “rihanna is a disappointment and bad role model for staying with her abuser” is that it is AGAIN putting blame on the victim of domestic abuse rather than on the abuser. and these claims always (in my personal experience) come from someone who has never experienced domestic abuse before. truth of the matter is, a woman usually goes back about 6-7 times to an abusive partner before she finally leaves. that is actually a widely known statistic because, surprise surprise, the abuse cycle is fucking complicated!!!!!!

i think what people disliked most is that she refused to be the poster girl for a broken woman. She would not be the media’s “model victim” and so instead she was vilified? for being abused??? the public was not satisfied with her story because it didnt match up to the one we see in TV so we all want to act like she is the problem now. 

it was not rihannas responsibility to not be abused.  it is not rihannas responsibility to be a role model. she is a person. she is a woman with a bountiful amount of agency, who takes control of her public image, and shares only what she wants to share, and that deserves to be respected.
