unexplained-events:

This intimately posed couple was found  in the Bourtangermoor peat bogs of the Netherlands in 1904. People were very touched by the way they were posed in death so they named them Mr. and Mrs. Veenstra (“veen” is Dutch for bog), or Joan and Darby. You can read my post about the bog bodies HERE.

These bodies were discovered long before forensic science (as we know it today) so the local constabulary decided to transfer the soggy cadavers to the nearest morgue in a very peculiar fashion. They rolled up the bodies of the two men like human scrolls, wrung them out, and stuffed them into a box.

Another very interesting thing about this case is while one of them was identified as a male due to preserved pelvis, the other one was identified as a female due to the small stature. It has now been discovered that both the bodies are of men. Though their relationship remains uncertain, this could be proof of Germanic tribes punishing homosexuals by throwing them into bogs.

Not sure why they would punish them by placing them somewhere sacred. I would think it would upset the entities living...
