Everyone needs to stop dicking around and seriously do something about this. This is a wide spread matter. If you think honey bees dying out won’t effect us in any way, you are dead wrongEveryone can do something, ANYTHING, to help. Sign petitions. Boycott. Let government know that this is a serious matter!! If you are a farmer or know someone spread the messages to STOP using insecticides/pesticides and gmos!! Let everyone know!! THERE ARE BETTER ALTERNATIVES. They are bad for us as well causing serious health problems!  NOT ONLY THAT BUT BEES POLLINATE MORE THAN JUST FLOWERS!! MOST OF THE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES WE EAT AND MANY OTHER FOODS. YOU WILL NOT HAVE THEM EVER AGAIN THE SAME WAY WITHOUT THE BEES. COCOA = CHOCOLATE. BEES HELP POLLINATE COCOA. THINK ABOUT NEVER HAVING CHOCOLATE AGAIN. JUST THINK ABOUT THIS. So please!! Everyone! Spread this message!! You CAN make a difference!!

Secondly, GMOs will kill you, in very brutal and nasty ways, some of them involving cancer.

Be aware, people.

Might I add that Einstein had quoted that “If the bee disappeared off the face of the earth, Man would only have four years left to live…”

Think about that guys. Einstein basically said that without bees we are basically fucked. If the bees are gone we will soon follow…

So I really hope that people are taking this shit seriously now

Because this is really serious.

BEES ARE CUTE OKAY IF THESE FUCKERS DIE OFF IM GONNA BE SAD

Okay, whoever wrote that bit about cancer, you are wrong.  Where did you get that information from?  What is your source?
GM plants have to pass some pretty rigorous safety standards before they’re allowed to be grown outside of a lab.  And then even more before they can be marketed.  The very fact that they are being sold means that they have been proven to have no adverse effects on human health, and some stuff like Golden Rice is actually pretty beneficial to us.

There’s basically two main things that are introduced into GM plants at the moment, and both of them are intended to help increase the crop’s yield so that, y’know, we can produce more food.  One is herbicide tolerance, which basically means you can spray around your crop to get rid of weeds without damaging the crop.  Herbicides get used in agriculture anyway, to clear fields before planting.

The other thing is insect resistance.  Now this is where some of you might see alarm bells ringing.  Bees are insects right?  Here’s the thing.  Conventional crops are sprayed with insecticide to keep the bugs off, which as you can probably guess kills literally everything that comes into contact with the plant.  Including bees.  The gene used in insect-resistant GM crops is for the Bt toxin, which is naturally found in a bacterium (which organic farmers are quite happy to use as a pesticide).  The beautiful thing about Bt toxin is it is incredibly specific to certain species of insects which feed on plants- there are in fact several different types which affect only one or two species of insect each- it’s that specific.  If the plant itself is producing it, then only the insects which actually feed on the leaves will be harmed by the toxin, leaving everything else to carry on its merry way.  Including the bees.  There have been numerous studies carried out on the effects of Bt toxin on bees, and none of them have shown it to have any effect on them.  And Bt toxin is also harmless to higher animals than insects, including humans.

While I agree that we desperately need to protect bees, can we not scaremonger?  There’s enough misinformation out there, so please check your facts.
Here’s a nice, comprehensive post with good sources explaining a bit more about GMOs in general
