#charlotte’s web couldn’t happen now bc small subsistence farms are no longer economically valuable#actually ican see it happening now with a trad family with money who buy a homestead and the spider words are like a hit with their church#group and get really popular in evangelical circles and wilbur gets instagram famous and they sell a bunch of merch#i meant economically viable btw#anyways there’s nothing in the original text that suggests wilbur becomes well known outside of the county he lives in. so i think in todays#world the phenomenon would be even more successful even if he doesn’t reach like doge level fame#sorry I enjoyed the joke but then i started thinking about it. I’ve probably read/listened to that book about 100 times it was my fave
