Reading about people who hate house centipedes is fascinating because I get it (everything about them sets off every worst “bugs are a phobia” reaction) but so much of it is They Are A Dangerous Pest or They Will Taint Your Food or Why Are There So Many Of These or Oh Shit It Was On Me. Which is why learning about scary stuff is good sometimes because:

They are not dangerous. If you corner one and bother it and it cannot escape it might try to sting you and if its tiny lil mouth stinger thing can even get through your big thick human skin it’s like a bee sting. Not fun but medically insignificant. And they don’t eat people food or anything, they aren’t trying to get in your rice.

But if you do see a lot of them it probably means you have a ton of other unsanitary or dangerous pests because their diet is like every worst household pest that exists (also spiders, sadface), so complaining there are too many centipedes is like you are almost there but probably you’re finding them in your blankets because you have mites or bedbugs or something.

And I would freak out if one fell on me but also they don’t want to be there. House centipedes on a human are like freaking out just as much because oh shit they want to be somewhere dark and small and not made of angry meat. Any time you see one it’s probably in the middle of wanting to be anywhere else because it wants to hunt in the dark. If a house centipede touches you somehow believe me it is even more upset than you are about it.

But yeah if you see one just let it go do its job out of sight like it wants to.

I really like legs and house centipedes have one of the best leg to everything else ratios around.
