If I wanted to kick a hornets’ nest, and I do, I’d say something like
“Being good at programming/computers is a cop-out for people who should be physical scientists or mathematicians. Learning it feels like insight into How Things Work, but it’s ultimately just systems built by other humans, so essentially it’s on the same level as literature.”
I don’t think I usually actually believe this, but it would be neat to make other people think I did.
