Pomegranates in Tunisia
Native to the area of modern day Iran & Iraq, pomegranates have been cultivated since ancient times. They first spread to the Caucasus and the Himalayas in Northern India and today are widely cultivated throughout Turkey, Iran, Syria, Spain, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, China, Burma, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Jordan, the Philippines, the Mediterranean, and tropical Africa. Introduced into Latin America and California by Spanish settlers in 1769, pom is also cultivated in parts of California and Arizona.
