the other day i found this molting dog day cicada (Neotibicen canicularis) on my way to the train and i couldn’t help myself so i took her with me! it was absolutely magical watching her finish molting :) i actually almost cried as i put her on a tree in my yard bc i knew i’d probably never see her again. cicadas are so special and like other insects the molting process is so cool to me. this is the best cicada season ever. these insects bring me so much joy :)
