Species | Lucifer sheartail

The lucifer sheartail (Calothorax lucifer), better known as the Lucifer hummingbird is a medium sized hummingbird with a diet predominantly consisting of nectar and desert flowers. Apart from that, they may also eat small insects and spiders.

Unlike other hummingbirds, which perform courtship displays near feeding areas, perches, or special sites for group displays, the male Lucifer Hummingbird performs its displays at the nest of a female which, on a personal note, I believe to be quite adorable.
