today’s funky frog of the day is: myobatrachus gouldii! commonly known as the turtle frog or tortoise frog, they are the only species in the genus myobatrachus. they get their nickname due to looking like a turtle without a shell, and they are only found in western australia between geraldton and fitzgerald river in the perth region. this area is mainly semi-arid, so the frogs have adapted to suit this region. they have small heads, short limbs, round bodies, and can be up to 45 millimetres long. they feed on termites so the adaptation of the muscular limbs is useful when trying to penetrate a termite mound. they have a life expectancy of 4 to 6 years.
