Easter egg patterns by Charles W. Saalburg, published in The World, 1902. The directions for dyeing eggs with these patterns were to cut each one out, wrap it carefully around the egg, and then hold a vinegar-soaked cloth around it for five minutes, transferring the ink from the newsprint to the egg.
