there are small pockets of them on the west coast, but for the most part fireflies don’t live past the divide of the Rocky Mountains in the US!

NO FIREFLIES FOR THE WEST, SORRY.

In fact, they’re so unknown in the western part of the US, when Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean opened, the riders thought the “fireflies” in the first part of the ride were a Disney invention, and a fantasy creature.
