found this gorgeous friend in our back field! he was moving really slowly (if at all) and wasnt really able to grip onto my hand or fight against the wind, so im thinking he’s reached the end of his little life. im glad i got to meet him though!!

hi, person who sent in the luna moth here! he’s been moved inside to a very roomy and warm enclosure and is doing much better! started doing his little shivers to warm himself up, and actually flew some! i think it was just too cold outside for him, but he’s okay now!!

Good to hear! I was going to suggest he may just be cold although they don’t live long anyway. But I’m so glad he’s got a bit more life left in him. Hope he gets to find a nice lady and make one thousand baby moths :))

This is so sweet, and I understand your intentions are pure, but I’ve seen a few posts like this on this blog and I want to throw my two cents in: Please leave wild insects outside!! They have evolved over hundreds of thousands of years to live outside and can handle a bit of cold. Handling them and bringing them indoors might cause them stress rather than helping them. Also it takes them out of the environment where they can fulfill their biological imperative to make more beautiful bugs!
