I see him as more of a… very Lucid Obsessive, more than anything.
I haven’t been to Church or anything in a while, but he’s the forgiving, empathetic, all-loving golden boy of Christianity, isn’t he? Jesus would never be cruel to anyone, least of all the disciple he considers closest to him. But, I think he’d tend to be one the more… passionate side of the spectrum, too. He does his best, but he’s not perfect, letting his temper get the best of his rationality and investing a little too much, even if he boils-over much less than other Yanderes. But, it still does happen. and regardless of how much he swears he loves you and promises he could never lay a hand on you, you’re still left terrified and crying and begging him to calm down.
If it’s any help, the guilt is unbelievable on his part, but… he can’t let you leave his side. With so many enemies, so many traitors, he can’t risk losing someone so loyal, someone so dedicated to his cause. So, he’ll make sure you rely on him as much as he relies on you. He won’t lie to you, but he might as well as be, considering how wrong he lets you take everything he says. Thinly-veiled threats that could only make sense to you, promises on brimstones and hellfire for anyone who doesn’t stay dedicated to their idol… it’s subtle, but it gets the point across. Even if Jesus does feel a little bad about it, afterward.
