You know, something that gets me every time I see it: the feminist bashing within the MLP fandom, particularly the splendid gents that crawled from under the rocks in this entire Down With Molestia awareness campaign.
Fucking feminists, you said. Feminazis, you spat.
Lauren Faust is a…
I’m sorry. I couldn’t understand you past all the guilt tripping and thought policing. And that’s what the DWM movement was. Guilt tripping and attempted thought control. That’s why I and many others were against it in the first place. If you were against it or worse, on the fence about the ordeal, you were labeled as a “rape apologist.” That’s what happened to Pixelkitties on The Round Stable forums all because she was friends with John Joseco. There are better ways to help those that have been raped. DWM was not one of them mainly because that the entire movement was so cluttered and chaotic that there was just nonstop hatred for 6 agonizing days. Also, Social Justice Warriors are not feminists. they are nothing more than thought policing anarchists who want the entire words as they see fit and will do anything to do so. Even if it means ruining someone’s life.
Did you really just compare someone using the term “rape apologist” to the extreme of drawing graphic, violent rape porn of a minor’s OC to “put her in her place”? Did you really just compare someone using the term “rape apologist” to the extreme of threatening to do a minor bodily harm? Really? I’ve been called some pretty names in my time, and even I can see that one of these things is not like the other.
You see it as a “guilt trip”? You know, maybe it wouldn’t make you feel “guilty” if those things listed weren’t sweet-fuck-all disgusting.
Thought police? No. It’s called an opinion, you know, that thing you’re expressing right now. You’re welcome to counter them, but it’s pretty interesting the only thing you see as thought policing is an opposing viewpoint.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZAxwsg9J9Q This is not an isolated reaction by far. The mindset goes far beyond this fandom. And it’s high time it be called what it is. By the by, I don’t know which tags you were browsing, but it was pretty impossible to miss the many cracks on feminism during this that were sandwiched around the countless shitty MSPaint rape memes. I believe that dare still stands. Any of the people who behaved in this way, those big tough guys who posted rape porn in the tag, those big tough guys who anonymously threatened a minor because the attitudes behind the Molestia meme are upsetting (meme, not the blog, see what I did there?), take your stories to Lauren herself, Nicole herself. Tell them what you did to a minor in the name of “freedom of speech”. Tell them how proud you are that you used rape and death threats against her. Tell them how far you are willing to go to promote a mindset that believes that is even remotely acceptable. Get the official word.
If you cannot tell that to them, then you are goddamn cowards who desperately need to take a long look in that mirror and work towards doing something you CAN talk about away from the safe, faceless internet. I remember seeing what happpened when Lauren dropped in on /mlp/. It went from edgy cool kids going “lol faggot” to “IMSOSORRYIMSOSORRY”.
That says to me you may be doing internet “right”, according to the guy that blamed Pinkie for MAKING them behave that way, but you are doing Real Life ™ 100% fucking WRONG.
There are other ways to aid survivors, yes, but that does not mean that all internet activism is instantly “social justice” to be dismissed and derided. The sentiments extend beyond the candy colored horses. It’s the attitudes that twisted them into nothing like their source material. The internet is not a void. What you say on the internet, anonymously or not, reflects on you as a person.
