Is the female man a good book because the title is 😐
I haven’t read it but a quick google and this is noted on the Wikipedia page for it. The title apparently is a reference to one of the characters who is a cis woman calling herself “the female man” because she’s a woman who occupies a male-dominated role, which… ehh
i havent read The Female Man but i read The Barbarian which is a short story also by Russ and i liked it a LOT. very violent - in a good way.
It’s an interesting read! There are definitely some troubling elements (a sex scene between an adult woman and a 15 year old… which they talk about being immoral but still. And for sure some real shitty transphobia). But I remember there being a few scenes that were just shockingly good. And also on the plus side its quite short
