the blue jay is a brightly colored medium-sized corvid native to north america, primarily the united states. like other corvids (crows, ravens, magpies and others), they are known for their intelligence and problem solving skills; while tool use in the wild isn’t confirmed, captive blue jays have been observed making and using tools. blue jays occasionally feed on eggs and small animals, but more commonly feed on nuts, soft fruits, and insects.
