i really truly believe that the outrage at “the q slur” is largely synthetic and that the number of people who say that they can’t or shouldn’t be forced to see it has been swollen by people who think it’s literally just about seeing a word that they know is supposed to be “bad”… rather than being made up of the genuine ranks of people who experienced trauma at being bullied, abused, or pushed out of communities hearing that word OR any number of other words in the whole slew of terms for lgbtq people that have arisen over the years
