*coats my entire body in chocolate magic shell and stands very still outside in the cool night until it hardens *
*when i move again, the chocolate coating cracks at my knees and elbows, wrists, the joints of all my fingers, the creases between my thighs and my abdomen. the chocolate begins to melt against my skin as my blood flows back to the surface and i let the chocolate shell slough off my body in sweet thin pieces. it’s nothing at all like a reptile shedding its skin. more like if trees had to shed their bark to grow*
