At first sight, this unassuming tree may not strike you as anything special. In fact, this is Old Tjikko, the oldest tree in the world. A Norway Spruce located in the Fulufjället Mountain of Dalarna province in Sweden, Old Tjikko has been estimated through carbon dating to be about 9,550 years old. It was discovered by a professor of Physical Geography, Leif Kullman, who named the tree after his dog.
