Spring Valley High School Student Brutally Assaulted By School Officer On Video, Not The First Time Officer Involved In Brutal Arrests
A South Carolina school officer grabbed a high school student from her chair, knocked her to the floor and dragged her across the classroom on Monday, a video shows.
The brief, shaky video shows an officer grab the student by her arms while she’s sitting at her desk and flip her over, toppling the desk. The officer then proceeds to drag the girl to the front of the classroom like a rag doll . The officer also appears to restrain the student by putting her arms behind her back.
This all happened because the student had refused to hand over her phone and leave class before the school officer became involved. Apparently that’s now justification for assault on a child?
Robinson, who recorded the encounter on his cell phone, told the Columbia TV station:
“I’ve never seen anything so nasty looking, so sick to the point that other students are turning away, They’re just scared for their lives. That’s supposed to be someone that’s going to protect us. Not somebody to be scared of.”
He believes Field intended to make a scene when he moved the girl’s laptop out of harm’s way and asked another student to move his desk. “He could already tell what he was going to do,” Robinson added.
The officer has been identified as Deputy Ben Fields. Fields, an 11-year veteran of Richland County Sheriff’s Office, has been a resource officer with Spring Valley High School since 2008.
This isn’t the first time he’s been involved in something like this!! He has been named in at least two lawsuits during his time with the sheriff’s office, including a case accusing him of racial bias. On top of all that, an Army veteran saw the video and spoke about his own rough encounter with deputy Ben Fields.
The school district released a statement saying that Officer will not be welcomed to any of their schools. He has been placed on administrative duty while the investigation continues.
