Just in case anyone thought that our legacy of systemic and institutional racial barriers was a “past horror we are trying to overcome” instead of an actual current, salient and ever-present TRUTH in reality.

States are gearing up for election season with a new wave of disenfranchisement measures…

Every single county in which blacks make up more than 75 percent of registered voters will see their driver license office closed. Every one.

(Source for the map below. The red counties are the ones where DMVs–the source for driver’s licenses/IDs, which are required for voting in Alabama–have closed.)
