Writing a completely pointless dissertation about how sharknado was a runaway success not because of its silly, campy take on the classic shark movie (bc there were many other silly shark movies that came out of the syfy silly movie generator around the same time!) but because it gave americans a safe space to explore their nascent fears of extreme natural disasters fueled by anthropogenic climate change

Yes light pollution is a real problem but I also want to bring up the fact that if you were outside at night in ancient Roman times you would just die. Like monsters (Boar, wolves) were real and they would just murder the fuck out of you if you were outside at night. Most modern human do not have context for how ludicrously dangerous night used to be.

But, with your help, we can change this. I’m running for the office of Weird Bug In Charge Of The Nighttime on the campaign foundation of personally ensuring that nobody can go “OuTsIdE” once the sun sets without being once again! in mortal fear of “ghosts”, “haints”, and “rabid”, “wild beasts!”. Donate to this “GOOD!” cause and, together, we can make a difference by releasing large breeding populations of grizzly bears into New York City subways.!!
