Feisty Little Bobcat Rescued From Barbed Wire Sprints To Freedom

An excited young bobcat made a lightning-quick return to the wild when she was released after six months of rehabilitation.
The 2-month-old bobcat was found snarled in a barbed wire fence in October. A local businessman rescued the little kitten, who was “hissing and growling,” and brought her to the Lindsay Wildlife Museum in Walnut Creek, California.
There, the dehydrated kitten was treated for a puncture wound on her neck, which could have caused a life-threatening infection in the wild, and showed off her very plucky attitude.
“Her attitude … is very ferocious, even more so than usual for bobcats,” Dr. Guthrum Purdin, the museum’s director of veterinary sciences, told the Santa Cruz Sentinel. “But she was kept to give her time to heal her injuries and grow a little more.” Kittens usually stay with their mothers for up to 12 months.
The museum, which partnered with the Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue to rehabilitate her, realized she was ready for release when she started catching her own prey. Now 7 months old and a healthy 6 pounds, the young cat was released earlier this month.
A video shows just how wild this cat still is, sprinting out of her carrier and away from her carers as soon as she realizes she’s free.
“It’s been a long journey for this little bobcat,” Purdin said in a statement. “It’s time for her to go back to where she belongs: wild and free.”

Speaking of pretty flowers, may I present to you the “Eighteen Scholars”, the flower of my heart-a variation of Camellia japonica L. Its uniqueness lies in the layers and layers of petals-one flower can hold as much as 130 petals.

Named “Eighteen Scholars” in Chinese because at the most, one bush can have up to eighteen of these pretty darlings :3
