After the massacre in Charleston, South Carolina, left nine black people dead, all the official flags throughout the state flew at half-mast. All but one: the Confederate flag. The symbol of slavery remained full-mast, defiantly flying high at the S.C. State House. Now nearly 100,000 people are fighting back — but sadly, it will take great effort to get it removed.

At first when I say that I was born with HIV, people think my story does not matter to them. What do I say to this? The same disease that I am living with is the same disease you can get from taking part in unsafe sexual acts, if you and your partner do not know your HIV status. The “H” in HIV stands for HUMAN - that means ANYONE.
Growing up I was always in and out of the hospital from blood infections to brain infections to having chicken pox 7 times because my immune system was so weak. I coded blue three different times, meaning I’ve died three times and the doctors brought me back to life. Knowing these things makes me appreciate life so much more.
I am [30] years old. I take three HIV/AIDS medications a day and I go to the doctor every 3-6 months, more if I’m feeling ill. I went to college, but had to stop going because I was sick and needed to rest.
It is possible for someone living with HIV/AIDS to have a relationship but partners have to be educated on how to stay safe. I am dating someone I’ve known since high school. We plan on getting married when he is done with school. At one point, I was madly in love with someone who was ashamed of letting people know I have full-blown AIDS, which hurt and sometimes brought me down.
I try to stay positive because there are people who are no longer with us, and I don’t want to walk around depressed when I have a heart beat.“
On July 4, Icarus Randolph woke up in a bad mental place.
The 26-year-old Marine veteran had served in Iraq and suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, his family says.
That afternoon, he became a casualty on his mother’s front lawn when a Wichita police officer shot him in front of his family. It was supposed to be a good day at the family home on East Clay, near Rock and Lincoln. Randolph’s mother planned a cook-out. But when Beverly Allen returned from the store, her son’s eyes told her he was upset. She knew it was serious enough to call for help and ended up talking to a 911 dispatcher.
The purpose that day, his family says, was to get help for him. Instead, they say, the two police officers sent to the home allowed the situation to escalate.One officer – the one who fired the shots – spent crucial minutes arguing with the family in the small front yard when he should have been trying to diffuse things before Randolph came out of a door, says his older sister, Ida Allen.
The family disagrees with the police account, saying Randolph didn’t run or charge at the officer, but walked.It is the latest shooting by a Wichita police officer to raise questions about how police respond to mentally ill people.
When Randolph’s mother moved forward, the officer “aimed his gun at her and said, ‘Get back, or I’ll shoot you too.’”
Although “a knife was reportedly found near” Randolph’s body, the claim says, “none of the family saw it in his hand when he came out of the house before he was shot.”
July 4 is Ida Allen’s birthday. Now, it is the day that she saw her brother get shot.

I am 100% sure that the cops completely guilty for what happened. Firstly, for what fuck they started to argue with the family, who asked them for help? Second, they were taught how to deal with mentally ill people, not to harm them, but these morons ignore all this. Because the cops do not care for the safety of us, as citizens, they only care about their own safety. That’s disgusting … It is totally unfair …
