Anonymous asked: For the white people who can't understand why people are mad at whites even though the people living didn't enslave us, think of it this way: if your great grandpa robbed a bank, I'm not mad at you. But if you're living off of the money he stole and expecting me to get to your level, then I'm frustrated/ angry. Get it?

OOOOOOOOOOOOO CHILD!!!!!! THE TEAAAAA

THIS IS THE THING

You have these white dweebs that are living off of stolen fucking money that have the AUDACITY to say, ‘Well, maybe if you worked HARDER, you would have what i have.’ That’s the rub. That’s the fucking rub.

There are literally families that are part of the 1% purely because of the fact that they owned slaves while the descendants of those slaves struggle to survive because of the way society systematically works against them still years later.

And not even money…living off of land they got FOR FREE through genocide and the Homestead Act which was implemented during the time Blacks weren’t even allowed to OWN anything—property included.

So your grandpappy’s farm is stolen, just like everything else your family’s legacy is built on.

And then factor in that it didn’t stop with slavery, but black code laws that would imprison black folks if they got to “uppity” with other white folks….yes that was a law, look it up. Which created the bases for our prison industrial complex, factor in share cropping, factor in the restricting of resources to black folks for generations, from housing, to medical care, employment, to education…all of these necessary institutions needed for upward mobility, with added persecution from our own government, giving us basic minimum rights was like pulling teeth. Now think about how recent laws that gave us those basic rights were put in place, and then think about how long it took for the white folks in authority to actually practice those laws fair and just, and basically started letting niggas actually exist without lynching them every fucking 5 seconds.

Now finally think about all the issues that could stem from an entire race of people being socially, and systematically being denied basic necessities that a human being needs to function. And how much of a complex and complicated mess of problems that were created that ranges across psychological, sociological, individual, emotional, cultural, from micro-and macroaggressions, that fits within a larger narrative that is mainstream white america.

Do you really think all of that could be fixed, or these wrongs could easily be righted in 20 or 40 years? That a single generation which is like your parents, and or grandparents age, that all of that could just be fixed when the world has been fucked up longer than it has been sane.

this post summarizes everything

Sandra Bland, in her own words: “It’s time, y’all. It’s time.”

Ms. Bland was a 28-year-old activist who often spoke out against police brutality and racial injustice. It’s time for us to stand up for her now.

Hearing her voice. Seeing her living and breathing. Now she’s gone. I’m tired of the genocide against Black people. It’s time y’all. Rest in Power Sandra.

Anybody who signed up for the free trial on Amazon Prime

karmalarma:

I know they had their sale and a lot of people signed up for the free trial, so I thought this might be relevant for some of you. I signed up for the free trial a while back and yesterday, Amazon charged our bank account for $107. We went on the website and it explained that when your free trial ends, they charge you for the next entire year of Amazon Prime.

Luckily, we hadn’t bought anything in a long time, so we were able to get a refund. However, if we had bought anything after the trial ended, we wouldn’t have been able to get our refund, which would be devastating in our current financial situation.

So for anyone who doesn’t plan on using Prime/might forget they have it/can’t afford to have that taken out even temporarily at the end of the trial, make sure to go into your Prime account and end your membership before your free trial ends.

Illinois Woman Who Drove To Texas For New Job Found Hanging/Dead In Jail Cell 3 Days Later

Sandra Bland died in police custody this past Monday. Visiting Texas from Chicago to interview for a college job at her alma mater of Prairie View A&M, she was pulled over for a routine traffic violation (failure to use her turn signal). Everything from that point forward screams racism and foul play, including her death in the Waller County jail Monday.

The Waller County Sheriff’s Office told the Chicago Tribune that Bland was arrested on Friday and charged with “assault on a public servant.”

A video capturing the incident shows differently!!

It shows several police officers standing over Bland while she is on the ground, arguing with them about why they’re being so rough

At one point, she can be heard saying, “You just slammed my head into the ground. Do you not even care about that?” She also thanks the man recording the incident for filming as she is led to a police cruiser.

Her friend, Malcolm Jackson, told ABC 7,

“After he (an officer) pulled her out of the car, forced her and tossed her to the ground, knee to the neck, and arrested her.”

What we see from a bystander video is her telling the officers she is in pain and cannot hear after her head was slammed on the ground by the male arresting officer.

We have now learned that Waller County Sheriff Glenn Smith, who made the first public comments about Bland’s in-custody death, was suspended for documented cases of racism when he was chief of police in Hempstead, Texas, in 2007. After serving his suspension, more complaints of racism came in, and Smith was actually fired as chief of police in Hempstead

Family and Friends close to Sandra, including most of twitter, is at an uproar, believing there was no way she committed suicide, and saying that foul play was at work.

“I do suspect foul play,” another friend, Cheryl Nanton, told the news station. “I believe that we are all 100 percent in belief that she did not do harm to herself.”

when kai fagerström happened upon an old cottage in rural suomusjärvi, finland, abandoned decades ago, he began to document its new residents.

there were badger cubs born under the floorboards, who now used the fireplace as an entrance. there was a raccoon dog pup who would drop in every night at the same time. there was a pygmy owl who would try to catch the home’s voles. there were red squirrels who had built their dreys inside the house. and there was a fox pup that had taken up in the dilapidated shed.

“there’s consolation in the idea that nature is reclaiming the places it has lent to people,” he says, adding that when he enters the house “it’s like stepping back in time. the past lingers in the corners.” it’s not just the animals that interest him, but the people no longer there.
