the one with the knife has passion and determination in it’s eyes whilst the cat with the gun looks as if he only has a weapon because he enjoys a life of solitude up in his ivory tower and would never actually fire the gun, but obviously the gun is the superior weapon and passion can only take you so far so there’s no doubt that if gun cat wanted to he could be the winner hands down but it’s not a question of whether he could physically, but mentally.

I get sick of tumblr’s version of self care, which 90% of the time threads into this beautifully: go pet a fuzzy cute animal! pile up your favorite blankets from childhood and watch disney movies! take a nap! play a game from this list of cute soothings games!
More realistically: go take a shower because it’s been three days. Wash the dishes that have been in the sink since last Friday that you can smell as soon as you open your door because rotting food stinks. Pick all your clothes off the floor because that’s where your entire wardrobe is and you’ve already cried today because you tripped over a sweater and realized the cat puked on it. Call someone who can give you enough courage to pay that bill you’ve been ignoring. Put away the crackers because that’s all you’ve eaten for two days straight. Apologize to the friends who are worried sick about you, and if you can’t at least let them know you are ok and need space.
One of the most empowering types of self-care is responsibility, but tumblr just wants to sit in a closet strung with fairy lights and read their favorite fic.
“Cute” self-care for “cute” mental issues. That’s not reality.

if you’re a straight woman joking about the fragility of straight men’s sexual confidence and their need to constantly reaffirm their heterosexuality, consider this:
are you actually doing this honestly, or are you, intentionally or unintentionally, distancing yourself from heterosexuality as an oppressive institution? by doing so, are you conveniently letting yourself forget about straight women’s homophobic attitudes? have you caught yourself thinking (or even saying or writing!) that straight women are much better than straight men when it comes to these matters? are you shielding yourself from accusations of homophobia by drawing attention to straight men’s homophobic actions only? is it easier to avoid analysing your own behaviour when you focus on men’s instead?
have you ever paid attention to the ways in which straight women emphasise and reaffirm their heterosexuality? have you noticed how similar many of their (your!) manners and attitudes are to the ‘no homo’ reaction you were just making fun of? (and let me tell you, if you’ve never noticed these phenomena, you haven’t been paying attention, and you obviously aren’t a very good ally.)
these are especially important questions to ask yourself if you consider yourself a feminist, since straight women’s homophobia usually targets and affects other women, especially lesbians, in particular.
