You’re Not a REAL Gamer Unless You’ve Played “Grand Puzzleventure”

(a review)

The actual product: In 2006 Hasbro released a “TV Plug-in Game” (Plug-’n’-Play) controller, that is to say, a controller with programmed software you can play on your TV as a functioning console. The controller is adorable, the base is purple, on top is “grass” and three flower-shaped buttons: a purple one on top, a pink one in the middle, and a yellow one on the bottom. The buttons themselves as well as the pink joystick are made of a translucent glittery plastic. There’s also a “pause” button on top, and the on/off switch is on the side. It takes 4 AA batteries.

The game itself: Pretty good! It has all the voice acting from the movies, the artwork and sprites are really pretty, the animation is good, and it’s a lot more entertaining I think than some of the other G3 games. You play as Puzzlemint (a pony packaged exclusively with the game) and journey across Ponyville (or I guess, Ponyland since you go to Unicornia and Butterfly Island) to play with the other ponies. After completing each minigame by meeting the score requirement, the pony will reward you with a puzzle piece. Once you’ve collected all of them, you can assemble the puzzle.

(as you can see… I didn’t meet the score requirement for some of the games. But I was in a hurry…!)

(the review ends here I guess, unless you want to know the minigames!)
