gaywrites:

Today is the Transgender Day of Remembrance.

At least 25 transgender people have been killed this year, the highest number on record. Most of them were transgender women of color. This is an epidemic, and the current administration is poised to do nothing to stop it.

November 20 is set aside each year to mourn the trans people wrongfully taken from us – to honor their legacy and remember their light. We must keep the fire of change and protest going all year, but it is just as important to create space to grieve our sisters and brothers and siblings.

Stay angry. Stay focused. And today, say their names.

More Scary Japanese Monsters —- The Shirime

In old times, this was a yokai (creature) found on the roads leading to Kyoto. The legend goes that late at night, a samurai was walking down the street when a man in a kimono stepped in to block his path and said “Excuse me … just a moment of your time … “ The samurai readied himself for an attack, and shouted back “What do you want?

The man suddenly shed his kimono and stood stark naked. He then bent over and showed his ass to the samurai, which had a single, huge eye. When the eye opened, it shown with a bright light. The samurai screamed with fright and fled from the mysterious monster.

this is my favorite yokai because it makes no sense. there’s no message in the tale that features it—a dude just shows a samurai his butt eye.

i have been telling people about this fucking dude for years and i am thankful to see him getting his moment in the sun on tumblr
