over the past two days we watched our wyandotte and grey silkie chicks hatch. it was magical; i haven’t been this excited in ages. seven chicks of nine fertilized eggs hatched successfully, which is very lucky. the eight chick to hatch, a silkie, is in critical condition and was left in the incubator to recover… i hope to goodness that she makes it

I can’t believe i just agreed to stay an hour and a half late at my morning job tomorrow… its bc the girl who works there in the afternoons was sneaky enough to email me in the evening so I would see it first thing in the morning before I remembered how much i hate working here >:/
No one asked but this is my dnd character Perris (named so because she’s a combo of Paris Hilton and Ferris Bueller, not after the town in California where they just found the horrible child cult. And speaking of child cult) and her adopted daughter Veas, an 11 year old air genasi she rescued from a homicidal cult. Perris has never really interacted with kids before and she really hated Veas at first because she was creepy and kept talking about how she wanted to murder people but after knocking the kid out and carrying her around for a couple hours she grew attached and now she’s determined to raise the kid with all the love and affection her wealthy parents never gave her (and likely never will, since Perris was disowned by them for being a thief and a carouser and accidentally killing her arranged betrothed, the son of another wealthy family, in a drunken brawl). She’s just a futch rogue with a terrible personality and this kid is gonna grow up to be a weird, sort of lovable monster just like her
Ursula K. Le Guin, “A Left-Handed Commencement Address” (Mills College, 1983)
this passage planted itself in my consciousness when i was 24, and 10 years later, it informs so much of my approach to living, thinking, creating.

Spotted today outside of a weird “antique store” in Meriden, CT. The store itself was closed, but the front yard was filled with the strangest things 😂

Ted Bundy was executed on the 24th of January, 1989. Outside the prison, there was a macabre carnival-like atmosphere. As Ted Bundy was led to the electric chair, over 100 capital punishment supports sang songs, lit sparklers, danced, and cheered. Some wore specifically designed t-shirts or held signs that condoned the execution. The final two photographs show onlookers clapping as a hearse containing Ted Bundy’s corpse is taken to the mortuary.
