There is a moth family called Nepticulidae that has some absolutely minuscule species, some with wingspans as small as 2 millimeters. They are usually leaf miners, meaning the caterpillarsĀ āmineā between the layers of tissue in leaves for food.
Here is a very tiny friend in this family that has a wingspan of about 3mm, Enteucha acetosae:
My very first terrarium for a baby cuban knight anole! I never thought Iād have a pet lizard but this little guy snuck into my work in a shipment of plants from Florida. I did as much research as I could but these guys arenāt popular pets, so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know! This is a medium sized exoterra with a mix of live and fake plants. I put some springtails and isopods in so theoretically its bioactive though I havenāt seen them since I put them in⦠also the terracotta pot in the corner is a little fountain i made myself :)
I donāt know a ton about them either because, like you said, they arenāt popular pets. My only suggestion would be to add a little more cover, especially since your little one was wild and more cover can help make a shy animal feel more secure. And switching out those pet store dials for digitalthermohygrometers will be helpful, too, since theyāre more accurate. But honestly, I think this looks pretty great so far, and that fountain is so cute!
I believe @scalestailsā has/had cuban knight anoles, so they might be a good person to ask for more specific advice. Or if any of my followers have experience/knowledge, Iām sure comments would be welcome :)
Thank you so much! I planted some lima beans in there so hopefully heāll have some more cover soon. And thanks for the thermometer tipā Iāve been very suspicious of mine since they show the same temperature right under the heat lamp and in the opposite corner.
I just have a question for anyone who knows reptiles and has some ideas! Heās alert and active but I dont think heās been eating his crickets since i got him into this set up a little over a week ago (i just put in the live plants and fountain this past weekend). Iāve been getting him to eat mashed bananas with reptile vitamins and giving him warm baths to keep him hydrated (his skin looks dry sometimes, but Iām hoping the fountain will keep the humidity up better in there. Iām also thinking about getting him a humidifier.) Iām starting him on reptiboost and some zilla humidity spray tonight. Is there anything else I can do to make him eat? At what point do I need to go to a vet? Heās just small and fragile and the vet is far away and idk what they would do with him. He looks skinny and since heās a baby I want to make sure heās getting the right nutrition. Iām trying smaller crickets and have dubia roaches coming in the mail. Thanks!
