Skull Vinaigrette
Vinaigrettes were used as a vessel to hold strong smelling substances to be sniffed should the user be passing through a particularly smelly area. At a time when miasma theories of disease – the idea that disease was carried by foul air – were dominant, carrying a vinaigrette was considered a protective measure.
Inside the vinaigrette there was a vinegar soaked sponge and the scent would be inhaled through small holes on top of the “acorn”.
If a person felt faint they could sniff their vinaigrette and the sharp vinegar smell might shock their body into action. The other side of the vinaigrette shows a face and could act as a memento mori – a reminder of death. The skull was probably hung from a piece of cord or necklace and carried at all times.”

I’m still trying to figure out if my symptoms (itchy throat mainly) are psychosomatic or not…. though apparently young n healthy people can have the virus and NO symptoms so what’s the point in worrying… I don’t know anyone who has it but i was in close quarters with upwards of a thousand people from all over the world every day at work until march 14… i need to decide if i should keep taking the (sparsely populated) metro into work (only seeing 3 coworkers now the m*seum is closed) and also if i can keep seeing my gf who lives with her mom who’s immunocompromised and asthmatic (I’m pretty sure that’s a No) and if its ok to share space with my parents at All (they’re healthy but in their 60s and my dad has no spleen)…. i just want to the king of doctors to come tell me what to do!!!!!!

are there common motifs in your dreams?
in mine for example it’s common to have wings, to drown in cold oil, breath water, or have to escape
From Voyage de la corvette l'Astrolabe Zoology [Atlas, Mollusques] (1833) by Dumont d'Urville et al.:
Illustrations of a sea hare (top) and a sea snail known colloquially as an “episcopal miter” (bottom). While both names are a bit questionable, I do think the latter looks more like a bishop’s hat (miter) than the former looks like a hare.
