Architectural parallels! One of the houses in my neighborhood has a door to nowhere just like the winchester mystery house in san jose. All the houses in my neighborhood were built exactly the same inside and out in the late 1940s, although some neighbors have done extensive renovations in the decades since. This neighbor apparently chose to demolish the left-side porch that every house in our neighborhood came with, but left the door above it untouched, probably to confuse ghosts.
