QueenMode Collective x Ginny’s Girl Gang are teaming up to create our Queen Gang Collection. We have joined forces with Ginny’s Girl Gang to create a collection of 6 custom jackets designed to represent everything that QueenMode is all about - the empowerment of First Nations women and Women of Colour. Each design has been carefully through out and tailored for 6 Queens out there in our QMC community. Is there a better way to celebrate women than a collection of wearable art curated by First Nations owned businesses dedicated to lifting and empowering the voices of First Nations people?
I’m sure there’s outsiders and fake fans who are going to try and sob that this is Millenial Liberal Politics or something but I don’t know anyone who ever thought it was anything but stupid and boring for the setting to assign alignments to entire species. Everybody who saw “Always Chaotic Evil” or “Always Lawful Good” on a monster immediately wanted to do the opposite with it and would just do it anyway. It never had a practical purpose that anybody cared about.
I always get so fucking mad when I remember that it’s actually a 16-year-old Algerian girl who influenced BOTH Picasso and Matisse. and. No one gives a rat’s ass about her work which was very focused on women and nature. History -or people dare I say- didn’t bother to remember her name because she was a young Algerian woman and no one cares about Maghrebi/Arab women. unlike P*casso & M*tisse who both became legends, almost gods both during their lives and after their deaths, no one knows her.
Her name was Baya Mahieddine.
i hope that more people know about her now, especially seeing as OP literally linked to an article about a Baya Mahieddine exhibition in 2018.
It is remarkable that she had such a strong practise and had great influence at 16. Despite various disruptions that caused her to stop painting, she returned to her practise from the 60s until the end of her life.
It was within her work that Baya found freedom. The world she painted, after all, is one where women assert their individuality and are free from the men who attempt to brand them with labels, keep them inside the home, or hold them back in any way. “If I change my paintings, I will no longer be Baya,” the artist said in 1991, after her husband died and she’d returned to painting. “When I paint, I am happy and I am in another world.”
A so called noon gun, a sundial with compass and a small cannon, Palermo 1842
This has been very popular since the 18th century, combined with a cannon and a burning glass, is set so that when the sun reaches its highest point at noon, a charge of gunpowder is ignited by the bundled rays of the sun, so that a loud bang sounds.
Not only would we have flying cars people would have their Animorph mains in their bios instead of the h*gwarts houses which is infinitely cooler and more individualized
