“That cloud looks just like a fish!” More than just cloud watchers, the red-footed booby breeds and nests on the islands of Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument. Their lack of predators and the protection offered by the monument makes this area one of the safest places for many of these vulnerable seabirds.

Aak grasshopper, Poekilocerus pictus, Pyrgomorphidae
Found in South Asia, the Aak grasshopper is especially known for its nymph, which squirts a jet of defensive fluid several inches when grasped by a predator. The liquid is foul-tasting and contains cardiac glucosides, which can be toxic in the right amounts. Photos 8 and 9 show nymphs.
